Alec Baldwin Honors John Hughes: ‘One Of The Best Directors I Ever Shot With’

Actor Alec Baldwin praised and honored the late director John Hughes by remembering the first movie, She’s Having a Baby’ on his official Instagram page.

Alec Baldwin remembered ‘She’s Having a Baby,’ the first real movie he starred in. Alec Baldwin said he has good memories of the movie starring Kevin Bacon and Liz McGovern, directed by John Hughes.

On the morning of August 6, Hughes was taking a walk near his hotel on West 55th Street in Manhattan when he suffered a heart attack. He was rushed to Roosevelt Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at age 59.

Alec Baldwin continued to praise John Hughes and said he was warm, weird, funny. He went on and this was the beginning of making studio films for him, and he said he was delighted with how hospitable and unpretentious John was. He also told John that he was one of the best directors he shot with.

Here’s what Alec Baldwin said:

“Movie stills. This one from SHE’S HAVING A BABY, the first real movie I was in. It was a pleasure to meet Kevin, Liz McGovern (a remarkable woman), and, of course, writer-director John Hughes. John was a warm, weird, funny, indefatigable man and I’m sorry I did not have an opportunity to work with him again.

This was, for me, the beginning of making studio movies and I delighted in how welcoming and unpretentious John was. Once, when we rehearsed a scene and it wasn’t working, John turned to me and said, “Who wrote this shit?!” He winked at me, lit a cigarette, and headed to his trailer to rewrite. One of the best directors I ever shot with.”
