Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Dev Patel Says The Movie Is ‘Sh*t’ Although He Was Big Fan Of Cartoon

British actor of Indian origin Dev Patel admits he was a big fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender’s cartoon series when he was a kid but he thinks the movie is sh*t.

A video from 2015 resurfaced on Twitter of Patel signing autographs outside the Toronto International Film Festival for the premiere of his film The Man Who Knew Infinity when he revealed how he felt about Avatar: The Last Airbender movie. By showing that the movie is disappointing for himself, he said:

“I’m sorry about this film. It was a little bit sh*t, wasn’t it?”

However, Patel, who portrayed Prince Zuko in the film, expressed his regret about being part of the movie, he told The Guardian that it’s difficult to promote a movie that he feels bad and doesn’t believe. He stated:

“It’s hard promoting a film you didn’t enjoy and don’t fully believe in, and I felt bad. I felt sorry that I’d let these fans down because I was a big fan of the cartoon it was based on growing up.”

The 30-year-old actor also was interviewed by THR’s Actor Roundtable in 2016 and opened up on the movie:

“I completely felt overwhelmed by the experience. I felt like I wasn’t being heard.”
