To understand the battle of Taylor Swift and Kanye West, teleport to 2009 is enough.
Nobody expects a VMA night to be Oscar-weighted, but it’s a move that shook VMA’s prestige thanks to Kanye West, who suddenly jumped onto the stage at a ceremony, split the thank-you speech of the award-winning artist, and claimed that Taylor Swift didn’t actually deserve the award. In 2009, Kanye overshadowed the joy of Taylor Swift’s prize, not only writing history with this movement but also starting this war with his own hands.
Van Toffler who the former president of Viacom Media Networks, said he cried Beyoncé in his father’s tower next to him and said:
“I didn’t know this was going to happen, I feel so bad for her.”
The show’s organizers knew who was going to win all the prizes that year – although he usually said it wasn’t – that’s why Toffler chose to comfort Beyoncé with a hint that he was going to perform on the show.
She won the “Video of the Year” award and had the opportunity to give Swift a moment of redemption. On Beyoncé agreed to do something wonderful and elegant. So Shakespeare’s bow was stolen throughout the evening.
