Billy Ray Cyrus Says ‘He Was A Gentleman’ While Mourning The Death Of Country Music’s First Black Superstar

The 58-year-old famous country music legend, Billy Ray Cyrus, has shared a throwback picture of himself with his close friend and country music’s first black superstar, Charley Pride, on Instagram and penned down an emotional tribute to pay his respect to his good friend.

According to a news release from his publicist, Jeremy Westby, the “Kiss An Angel Good “Mornin” star passed away on Saturday in Dallas, Texas, due to complications from COVID-19. He was at age 86.

After the tragic death news of Charley Pride, many of his friends and fans took to social media to pay their respect with emotional tributes. One of his friends was Billy Ray Cyrus.

The 58-year-old singer shared a throwback photo with Charley on Instagram and penned down a touching tribute in the caption. He mentioned what a great person he was:

“The last time I spoke to my good friend and legend Charley Pride.

 We met in ‘92 playing shows together in Australia. His beloved sweetheart Rosie by his side. A gentleman… legend and true trail blazer.

 With much respect #RIP.”

A fan wrote:

“Rip Charley Pride. You absolute country star legend!”

Another fan added this comment and shared her sorrow:

“I liked his songs, sorry to hear of his passing.”
