Actress Maria Bakalova revealed in a recent interview what her Oscar nomination meant to her and revealed what she dreamed of about the Oscar when she was young in Bulgaria.
As we all know, Borat 2 is the sequel to the first Borat movie and was released in 2006, and again Sacha Baron Cohen brings Borat to life. In the new film, Borat intends to destroy America; this time presided over by Donald Trump.
As you know, Bakalova was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actress category. She revealed what she dreamed of about the Oscar when she was in Bulgaria, and she said that this nomination was beyond her wildest dreams.
Here’s what Maria Bakalova stated:
“It’s just beyond my wildest dreams, because things like that don’t usually happen. Having this recognition, it makes me more inspired to bring attention to the people of my region of the world.”
“Many young girls from my country… from everywhere all over the world can be inspired that their dreams are possible and they should dare to achieve them.”
Bakalova also talked about her new Netflix film The Bubble and mentioned how thrilled she was. She added:
“It wasn’t even a decision. It was like ‘Yes, please, I would love to.’ I believe that for our mental health, we need more things that are going to make us love.
I think it’s time we start celebrating who we are and be proud of it. Because it’s going to be beautiful if you celebrate the stories of strong women like, in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, the story of Tutar, the story of Jeanise Jones, or the story of Judith the holocaust survivor. We need it these days, more than ever.”
