Los Angeles Lakers fans were very disappointed last year after being eliminated by Phoenix Suns, were hopeful for the trade period this year, and expected good players to be recruited into the team. However, some fans seem not very happy with the new team.
The Lakers’ new season will feature the likes of Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, and Russell Westbrook, and some think veterans won’t benefit the team now that more than half of the team is over 32.
Prior to that, he was able to get another shot at victory with Carmelo Anthony’s Portland Trail Blazers. Melo revived his career with the Blazers and made an immediate impact on the court.
Last season, Melo had to be on the bench for the first time in his career. But at the end of the day, he just wanted to help his team win a match. According to Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times, Melo said he would bring the same mentality to the Lakers.
Here’s what Carmelo Anthony stated:
“I had to swallow that pride. But I also had to use that ego and that pride to keep me on edge and keep me motivated. And I’ve accepted that. It played out well in Portland. […] Again, that was my first time doing it and experiencing that at that level. But I enjoyed it. It was fun, it was basketball, and I was still able to do my thing and play ball and have fun and have the love for the game again.
So, I don’t know what’s going to happen [with the Lakers], you know what I’m saying? I just know I’m prepared, like I’m ready, you know what I’m saying? I’m ready to go play basketball. I know what’s at stake here and I’m totally locked.”
