Spirit Day, celebrated on the third Thursday of October every year, is set up as an awareness day for the bullying and harassment of LGBTQ individuals around the world and purple is used as a symbol of this movement. One of the celebrities who participated in this movement was the famous singer Celine Dion and she showed her support for LGBTQ youth via her official Instagram account.
This awareness day began in 2010 and was created after LGBTQ school students started committing suicide as a result of the bullying they faced and it has been going on ever since. The people who support this formation wear purple on that day and share their support for LGBTQ youth with the public and show that they are against bullying. At the same time, they honor LGBTQ victims of suicide.
In social media platforms, the big brands change their logos to purple, some celebrities wear purple to honor the people who were excluded from society or committed suicide because of their identities.
In her latest post, Celine Dion shared a heartwarming photo with her children and showed her support for this campaign. The artist, dressed in purple, is sitting with her kids wearing berets that say ‘Spirit Day‘ written on it, stated that she supported this anti-bullying campaign and expected all her followers to stand against bullying. The artist, who also wrote how to help LGBTQ youth, was appreciated for this behavior.
Here’s what she said:
“Today we’re going purple in solidarity with @glaad #SpiritDay! I encourage all of you to join us and take a stand against anti-LGBTQ bullying. Read more about how you can take the Spirit Day pledge and support LGBTQ youth through the link in bio 💜🌈 – Celine xx … “
