Charli XCX Gets Really Excited About Her Nomination For Brit Awards 2020

British singer Charlotte Emma Aitchison, aka Charli XCX, has posted a new photo of herself on Instagram and expressed her feelings after the nomination for Brit Awards.
According to the recent official announcement, Carlie XCX is nominated for ‘Female Solo Artist Of The Year.’ The 2020 Brit Awards ceremony will be held at London’s O2 Arena in February.
Here’s what Charli XCX wrote on Instagram:
“Wow, I got nominated for a Brit award! I’m honored! I’ve been making music for 13 years now (!) so to finally be invited to this party is kinda cool 😉 I was 14 when I started making music & I wasn’t someone who knew exactly who they were from the beginning.
I was figuring it out as I went along but one thing was certain: I loved pop music & twisting it. I had commercial success (“is that the boom clap girl?!”) which was weird & wonderful & it defo played a part in making me the artist I am now, but it didn’t feel satisfying to me. I didn’t feel like I was being myself & I didn’t feel fully accepted or comfortable in the world I was in (will I ever??? a whole other story…).
I began to move away from what was expected of me & went on to make music for myself; music i loved. When I started changing my artistry some people around me were like “what are you doinggg?” “This doesnt make sense?” & some doubted whether I could be considered serious/provocative/good/whatever (I don’t think I was ever concerned about this tbh). Thankfully, there was also support & love from my fans who grew with me, & my collaborators who were just so hungry to create. Look, what I’m saying is I’ve been told “no” a lot – whether that’s from other people or from the voice of insecurity inside my head.
I’ve felt like I wasn’t being listened to & I’ve felt I would never be taken seriously. I was a think piece, I was “the underdog” & sometimes I still feel like an outsider. This nomination doesn’t change anything really (even though I’m extremely grateful), but i wanted to use this day to share it with anybody who feels the same way I do sometimes: like they don’t fit in, like people don’t get them or like they’re different.
Honestly, maybe some people don’t get us, maybe they never will, but it’s ok. It really doesn’t matter because we’re here & we’re doing our thing & somewhere in the world we might be inspiring someone to do the same. Keep creating, keep doing what you love & keep being unique.💓 ps: I’m posting this now because on the night I am gonna party so hard & I probs won’t win coz this category is filled with EPIC WOMEN who I am honored to stand beside 💓 ok that’s all. Love ❤️”
