‘Chernobyl’ Star Alex Ferns Reveals His Uncle Died From Nuclear Disaster Rain

The Chernobyl disaster happened on April 26, 1986, in the Ukranian town of Pripyat. A reactor core exploded during a safety test. Some experts believe as many as 100,000 people may have died as a result of radiation from the accident

‘Chernobyl’, a five-part miniseries co-production from HBO and Sky, dramatizes the story of the 1986 nuclear accident, one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history — and of the sacrifices made to save Europe from unimaginable disaster.

‘Chernobyl’ star Alex Ferns has revealed his uncle died from cancer after the nuclear explosion at Chernobyl. He blamed nuclear disaster rain. He said:

“asked to come in but were told by their gaffer to stay outside and to carry on working. They carried on.”

He continued:

“There’s a lot of politics around it,” Ferns said. “But what we do show is that, at the end of the day, it is the workers who get f***ed over.”
