Chris Rock, one of the funniest actors in Hollywood, revealed that during the pandemic he decided to spend quality time and therefore started to learn swimming in his 50’s.
While the Rock was filming Fargo, he kept saying ‘Oh, I hope this m..rf..er don’t have COVID.’ Months later he seemed calmer after overcoming this situation.
Although the last 6 months have been very difficult and scary for the whole world, this period has enabled Rock to add innovations to his life in ways he could not imagine. Apart from his job, he provided a space to improve himself, focus on his health, and learn new things.
Seeing the pandemic as a season break given by an athlete, Rock describes the situation as follows:
“What people don’t realize is that athletes get that time and you can’t obtain greatness without the time to rest and work on yourself and your faults.”
One of the most important changes in Rock’s life was learning to swim, which he had been dreaming of for many years. At the same time, Rock, who also created a new fitness regime, even got new muscles.
Here’s what he said:
“Do you know how fucking hard it is for a grown-up to learn how to swim? You’ve got to not be scared to die.”
Rock has a pool at his home in New Jersey, which he couldn’t use before. He realized the absurdity of this situation, as he decided it was time to use that pool.
“The other day, this guy says to me, ‘OK, you’re going to dive into the deep end and swim to the other side,’ and I’m like, ‘Are you fucking crazy?’ But then I dove into the deep end and I swam to the other side, and it’s a metaphor for what I’ve been trying to do during this time.”
