Los Angeles Lakers fans were very disappointed last year after being eliminated by Phoenix Suns, were hopeful for the trade period this year, and expected good players to be recruited into the team. However, some fans seem not very happy with the new team.
The Lakers’ new season will feature the likes of Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, and Russell Westbrook, and some think veterans won’t benefit the team now that more than half of the team is over 32.
Prior to that, he was able to get another shot at victory with Carmelo Anthony’s Portland Trail Blazers. Melo revived his career with the Blazers and made an immediate impact on the court.
As a free agent, Melo chose to leave the Blazers and sign a senior minimum contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. This was a big move for the Lakers, who are trying to increase their depth overtime for next season. While Melo chose to leave Portland, he’s still happy with his experience in the city, as he explained on IG.
“Portland, all I can say is thank you. Thank you for letting me love the game of basketball again. Thank you for welcoming me into your community, and supporting me both on the court and in your city. These two years were some of the most important ones of my career, and for that I’ll always be grateful.”
Melo’s former superstar teammate Damian Lillard made a joke out of the situation as he took to Melo’s comments on Instagram. Lillard wrote “off the property bruv” as a way to jokingly tell Melo that he needs to pack up his things and get out of Portland immediately.
