Singer and songwriter Demi Lovato made a crucial statement about the Jacob Blake case on her official Instagram account and demanded justice for the black man who shot seven times in his back by a police officer in Wisconsin.
The Black Lives Matter protests resumed after a Kenosha police officer shot Jacob Blake seven times in his back. Thousands of people demanding justice for Jacob Blake, who was treated in the hospital, have reacted both on social media and on the streets.
However, Kenosha County District Attorney Michael Graveley announced that he would not file a criminal complaint against Rusten Sheskey, the 31-year-old police officer who shot Jacob Blake.
On Monday, Demi Lovato took to Instagram and reacted to the news that the police officer would face no criminal charge and demanded justice for Jacob Blake. In her post, the 28-year-old singer left news that she got from Washington Post and supported the Black Lives Matter movement in this way once again.
Here’s what Demi Lovato captioned:
“Justice for Jacob Blake💔 From @washingtonpost: A Kenosha police officer will face no criminal charges for shooting Jacob Blake seven times in the back, an incident that touched off several days of intense protests against police and later unraveled into violent and deadly street clashes between demonstrators.
Kenosha County District Attorney Michael Graveley announced in a Tuesday news conference that his office would not seek charges against Rusten Sheskey, the 31-year-old Kenosha police officer who has been on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Justice since the Aug. 23 shooting.
Blake, who witnesses said had been trying to break up an argument between two women, was shot as he walked back toward his vehicle. In his written report, Graveley said Blake was armed with an open knife he was holding in his right hand.”
