Demi Moore Demans Police Reform After Derek Chauvin Convicted In George Floyd’s Death

Actress Demi Moore has demanded police reform after Derek Chauvin convicted in George Floyd’s tragic death.

On May 25, last year in Minneapolis, 47-year-old black man George Floyd asked for help, stating that he could not breathe when he was being put into custody by police officer Derek Chauvin while applying pressure to his neck with his knee. George Floyd passed away after the harsh intervention of Derek Chauvin.

Chauvin, who was suspended from office and arrested on May 29, 2020, was released on bail on July 10, 2020. The trial of Derek Chauvin, who was sued for 2nd and 3rd-degree murder and 2nd-degree murder, started on 29 March.

As a result of the 4-week trial at the Hennepin District Court in Minneapolis yesterday, the 12-member jury members announced the historical decision after the negotiation that lasted about 10 hours. A spokesperson for the jury reported that he convicted Chauvin of all three crimes. Derek Chauvin handcuffed after the judge revokes bail following the verdict.

However, this decision caused some famous names to react. Demi Moore said in her statement on Instagram that this is not justice, but is a process to reach justice. Stating statin they will fight against injustice, Moore said that the police should be more responsible for the murders of black people.

Here’s what Demi Moore stated:

“Today’s verdict was the only possible verdict. This is not justice, but it is progress. We must continue this fight and continue to hold police accountable for the injustices against our Black brothers and sisters. Thinking of George Floyd’s family today and the countless other families affected by police violence. #PoliceReformNOW”
