Gal Gadot Explains How Her Character Evolved In Upcoming Wonder Woman 1984 Film

Upon the unexpected success of the Wonder Woman movie released in 2017, the creators of the DC Extended Universe want to achieve this success again with the upcoming ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ movie by making a slightly modified copy of the original Wonder Woman movie.

The filmmakers are not trying to connect with Wonder Woman 1984 and the original Wonder Woman. They don’t want this movie to be thought of as a sequel because director Patty Jenkins wanted Gal Gadot to feel like her own movie instead of reviving Diana Prince’s previous adventure.

In the Wonder Woman 1984 movie, the character will also be different. Due to the enormous difference between the timeline, the change of Diane Prince would be unavoidable. Gal Gadot explained how and in what direction her character evolved. She said:

“It’s totally of its own. It’s true. And I feel, in the first movie, a big thing that we played off was the naiveté of Diana. And she’s not naive anymore. She’s been around. She’s wiser. She’s more mature. We meet a very much evolved character in this one.”

Also, the other star of the movie, Kristen Wiig, said that the film would not be a sequel. She stated:

“It really doesn’t feel like a sequel in that… everything’s different. The posters, the music, everything… Obviously, the posters are different! I meant, like the style! A lot of time, with the sequel, you want to show the connection to the first one.”

It was previously announced that Wonder Woman 1984 had postponed due to COVID-19, and it was changed the release date of the film. Then, in an official statement, it was stated reported that the film would screen on October 2, 2020.
