Harington, who looks at the situation with a male eye, stated that men are much less deficient in expressing their emotions and they think it is a source of embarrassment. For this reason, he expressed that he did not want to portray more emotionless characters.

“We do not speak about how we feel because it shows weakness, because it is not masculine. Having portrayed a man who was silent, who was heroic, I feel going forward that is a role I don’t want to play anymore. It is not a masculine role that the world needs to see much more of. ”

He also mentioned that his mother raised him in a ‘gender fluid’ way which means for him there aren’t any unchangeable rules about how to behave like a man or a woman. As a child, he both played with boy and girl toys.

“I asked for a Mighty Max and she bought me a Polly Pocket. I asked for an Action Man and I got a doll – it was very gender fluid from the word go. And I went with it.”
