GoT Star Liam Cunningham Reveals He Objected Showrunner David Benioff After Facing A Major Change

Game Of Thrones star Liam Cunningham gave an interview on the statements of showrunners Benioff and Weiss in a new book called Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon. He announced that he had to oppose the producers on an issue he found important about his character in the series.

Based on George R.R. In Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire book series, the Game of Thrones took the TV series to another dimension and pioneered for others. Liam Cunningham, one of the series’ actors, shared an unknown about his character and announced that he did not want Davos to fall in love with Missandei.

Thinking that this situation did not suit the story of the character in the series, Cunningham fought on this issue and told the producers that he could not do it. Throughout the series, this was the only issue he did not agree with Benioff and Weiss.

One of the reasons for this opposition was the age difference between Ser Davos Seaworth and actress Nathalie Emmanuel, who played Missandei of Naath. Cunningham is 56 years old, and Emmanuel is 28 years old.

Cunningham said that Benioff liked to go crazy sometimes with the script, but the actor got what he wanted and prevented a love relationship between Ser Davos Seaworth and Missandei of Naath.

Here’s what he said:

“When we first meet Daenerys, Benioff and [director Mark Mylod] wanted Davos to have a crush on Missandei. And I fought them. I’m not fucking doing it. It’s the only thing I ever stood up to them on.

The woman is a goddess, but with Davos’ history with Lyanna Mormont and Shireen, you can’t have him getting the hots for a young woman.”

Cunningham said he also told Benioff and Weiss:

“You’re not undoing my hard work engendering the sympathy of the audience to have him be a perv.”
