On Instagram, pop singer Halsey, whose real name is Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, recently made a crucial statement about an African-American man named George Floyd who murdered by a white police officer.
George Floyd was taken into custody by a Minneapolis police officer named Derek Chauvin before killing him by pressing by his knee on George’s neck in public.
According to allegations, the 46-year-old black man died as a result of the police officer’s brutal method despite the fact that Floyd George did not resist detention.
A video of this incident got burned everyone who is on social media. One of them is Halsey. The 25-year-old singer took to Instagram to show her reaction to this inhuman murder, and she said that this is not sufficient punishment for murder after the officers in question have been terminated and given paid leave.
Here’s the statement:
“As many of you know George Floyd was a black man murdered by a police officer. He was unarmed and initially restrained for a nonviolent crime. Say his name. Share this information.
If you have friends and family who are privileged enough to “stay away from this kind of news” then take that fucking privilege away. Uplift the voices of black members of your community voicing their fear or outrage or grief.
👉🏼👉🏼Text ‘FLOYD’ to 55156👈🏼👈🏼 and sign the petition seeking justice. The officers in question have been terminated and given paid leave. This is not sufficient punishment for murder. They need to be prosecuted.”
Halsey also continued:
“If you’re staying silent you’re contributing to the problem. I am updated on my Twitter if you are looking for more resources and information. The link for donations to black lives matter is in my bio. #blacklivesmatter”
