Halsey Supports Women Who Have Been Fighting To Legalize Abortion In Argentina

Singer and songwriter Halsey has shared her thoughts about women who have been fighting to legalize abortion in Argentina and showed her support for these women.

The Argentine Senate adopted the abortion bill proposed by Argentine President Alberto Fernandez, with 38 ‘yes’ votes against 29 ‘no’ votes, after 12 hours of debate. During the voting, one senator abstained. The law allows women to have abortions by the 14th week in Argentina, where Catholic Christians make up the majority of the population.

Thousands of supporters of the abortion law celebrated the decision in front of the parliament building, wearing green scarves, which became a symbol of the movement towards the liberation of abortion. Likewise, thousands of anti-abortion protested against the decision.

One of the names that celebrated this decision was Halsey. The 26-year-old singer posted a photo of the people attending the celebration on her Twitter account and showed her support for all those fighting for their abortion rights.

Here’s what she said:

“Proud of everyone who has been fighting the fight to legalize abortion in Argentina for YEARS. Congratulations on your massive win. It is not lost on the world that this comes at a great cost, as so many suffered along the way. Here’s to the future!!!!!!!”

Following her tweet, the verified Twitter page of MTV Argentina thanked the singer:

“THANKS FOR SUPPORT”

A fan commented:

“Happy for Argentina, and sad for Brazil, that we are far from this future with a fucking president we have.”
