Idris Elba Shares A Rare Photo On Instagram To Remember His First Fight On His Boxing Career

Idris Elba is an artist who has talent in boxing as well as acting, writing, and rapping. He shared his longing for kickboxing with his followers by writing a memoir about how he felt liberated doing boxing via his Instagram account.

Idris Elba entered the ring in 2016 and played a successful first pro kickboxing match. Although he wanted to return to the rings in the past four years, he gave up this idea because his mother and wife were not very keen on the idea. However, it seems he missed those days and wants to return to the rings.

On Thursday, Elba shared a smiling photo on his Instagram which was from his professional fight debut. Elba, who entered the rings that year after a year of training, explained that this was not an easy decision and he asked himself why he was doing this. He felt as if his mother could be angry with him at any moment for doing something wrong.

Although he had a set the next day, he went into the ring taking a big risk of being punched in the face. Luckily, he won the fight and returned home safely. Elba could never understand why he wanted to box, taking this risk. He was only sure that this sport made him feel liberating and he ended his words by saying that sometimes you do things for no reason.

Here’s what he wrote:

Four years ago today was my professional fight debut. York Hall East London, after training for nearly a year. This is me having a laugh at the gym but all the time fighting that dreaded feeling, like when you know your Mum is gonna give you ass whooping for doing something wrong.

In this picture, I was thinking why am I doing this? This was actually the day before I was scheduled to fly to Toronto and shoot Molly’s game for Aaron Sorkin with @jessicachastain,

WIN OR LOSE, nose broken or not, the insurance companies weren’t amused. I won the fight in the end and never really found the answer as to why I wanted to do it, I just know it felt liberating. Sometimes you just got do whatever, just because.”
