Idris Elba Supports Bukayo Saka Who Suffered Racist Abuse After Euro 2020 Penalty Shootout Loss

In the final match of EURO 2020, the regular time and extensions were completed 1-1, Italy, which gave England a 3-2 advantage on penalties, became the champion.

Thus, the Italian football team achieved victory in the European Championship after 53 years. Azzurri (Blues) won their first trophy by eliminating Yugoslavia in the final of the tournament held at home in EURO 1968.

Throughout the history of the tournament, Italy, which won the championship for the second time in its 4th final where they were defeated by France in 2000 and Spain in 2012 in the final.

England coach Gareth Southgate changed his tactics for penalty shootouts when the equality was not broken in the extra time of the match, which ended with the regular time 1-1. In England, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho were included in the game in the last minute of the match, considering penalty shootouts.

After Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho missed penalties, Bukayo Saka could not pass Gianluigi Donnarumma, and the trophy went to Italy. After missing penalties, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka could not hold back their tears.

However, some English fans were not happy with this situation and they used racist hate on the players who missed the penalty, especially 19-year-old Saka, on social media.

After racist attacks by some British fans, British actor Idris Elba supported the actor by posting a photo of Saka on his Instagram account. In addition to racist abuse of England players, many football fans and supporters sent Saka messages of support. He also didn’t caption the post.
