Jackie Chan is an important actor known for his action-comedy movies and he has also been in many important Hollywood action movies since the 80s.
Jackie Chan, who is known to do his own stunts and legendary fight scenes, unfortunately, has not been involved in such productions for a long time. He explained the reason for this during an interview he gave recently.
The actor, who has been reading many scripts since the movie ‘Karate Kid‘, explained that the roles were always about a Hong Kong policeman. He no longer wanted to repeat himself and be called just as an action star because he wanted to be an actor who does the action.
Only 7 years after the movie ‘Karate Kid’, which was released in 2010, he agreed to star in the Hollywood movie ‘The Foreigner‘ in 2017 because he wanted the audience to see different sides of Jackie Chan.
Here’s what he said:
“All these years after the ‘Karate Kid’, I received so many scripts, but the role is [always] a Hong Kong policeman. That’s why it took me seven years to accept a role in another Hollywood film, with ‘The Foreigner’. I want to make sure that the audience can see these different sides of Jackie Chan. I would like the public to consider me an actor who does action, not just an action star.”
Jackie Chan, of course, has not completely refused to act in action films, and may even appear in sequels to classics such as ‘Rush Hour 4‘ and ‘Shanghai Dawn‘ later on.
