The Avatar movie, which entered our lives in 2009, was a great success and lent color to the film industry. James Cameron, who is the author and producer of the multi-award-winning film, had announced that it will continue as four sequels.
While fans of the movie were eagerly awaiting the release date of the movie, unfortunately not much information was shared about it. After 10 years, the audience wanted to meet with the movie Avatar 2, but this time a pandemic intervened and there were disruptions in the shooting.
After all this wait, James Cameron finally made a statement. Cameron, who is working hard on his sequences, heralded that Avatar 2 shootings were completed. It seems likely that the subject of Avatar 2 will take place in an underwater world completely different from Pandora, where the first movie took place. This is another interesting detail about the movie.
Making a statement to Arnold Schwarzenegger, Cameron confirmed that despite all the delays, the shooting was successfully completed, and even the third sequel of the series was finished.
Here’s what he said:
“Well, COVID hit us like it hit everybody… We lost about four and a half months of production. As a result of that, we’ve rolled around one more full year for a release in December of 2022.”
“Now that doesn’t mean I have an extra year to finish the film, because the day we deliver Avatar 2 we’ll just start working on finishing Avatar 3. So where we are right now, I’m down in New Zealand shooting. We’re shooting the remainder of the live-action. We’ve got about ten percent left to go. We’re a hundred percent complete on Avatar 2 and we’re sort of ninety-five percent complete on Avatar 3. So we’re very lucky in that we chose this as our production site years ago.”
Cameron also explained that he cannot give anymore details on the upcoming Avatar 2’s storyline. However, he invited Schwarzenegger to the set to see for himself.
Avatar 2’s release date is December 16, 2022.
