James Gunn Reveals What Inspired The Character ‘Drawing Boy’ To Dustin Milligan From His Debut Movie ‘Slither’

Director James Gunn has revealed what inspired the character ‘drawing boy’ played by Dustin Milligan from his debut, Slither, which was a horror/sci-fi movie on Twitter.

James Gunn shared some scenes from the movie on Twitter to celebrate the 15th anniversary of his debut movie, Slither, saying he is still grateful to those who hired him for this movie.

While answering some questions about the movie, one of the actors of the film, who portrays the ‘drawing boy’ character, Dustin Milligan jumped to the comment section and asked what he was inspired by while creating his character.

James Gunn revealed that ‘drawing boy’ was inspired by every douchebag the director went to high school with, but he continued to explain and said that the character needed to be played by an actor who could do anything.

Here’s what James Gunn said:

“Inspired by every douchebag I went to high school with, but needed to be played by an actor who could do anything. PS Your 28 cent check is in the mail.”

James Gunn also explained how he created the character Brenda Gutierrez by played Brenda James:

“We built a giant body (there was no back half to it) and put Brenda in makeup and stuck her head in there. We didn’t find out till after she was in there she was claustrophobic (really) so we shot it all quite quickly.”
