James Gunn Says He’s Not Planning To Resurrect Yondu In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is not thinking and planning to resurrect Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 on a fan’s question about the character.

As you might remember, Guardians of the Galaxy star Michael Rooker has rejected a return to the franchise as Yondu in the new movie. The actor’s character was killed off at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, sacrificing himself to save Peter Quill (Chris Pratt).

When a Twitter user asked if Yondu would be resurrected in the new movie, Gunn said, as he said earlier, Yondu would never come back and the character was dead.

Here’s the response of the director:

“As I’ve said before, Yondu is dead & will stay dead as long as I’m involved with the Guardians. His death means something to people & I’m not about to diminish that.”

James Gunn also said that OG Groot has also died and will not return as long as he is in charge of the Guardians of the Galaxy. He said:

“Yes, OG Groot is also dead & will stay dead, sorry. The current Groot is his spawn.”

The director also revealed the difference between OG Groot and baby Groot. He added:

“No. I always wonder why this isn’t obvious. Original Groot would know what a death button was. He wouldn’t sleep on Drax’s shoulder. He wouldn’t cry when Rocket was being attacked by Ravagers.”
