Fourteen years ago, rapper Jeezy released of his major debut, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101. He clarified that it wasn’t the finale of his career on Sway in the Morning episode.
On a recent episode of Big Boy’s Neighbourhood, “1 Time” rapper has shared his thoughts about trap music. Jeezy made it clear that he had a traditional conception of the term that made him the first person to make money. He said:
“I respect the fact that someone would risk their life to save their family and I just can’t equate that with a sound.”
Jeezy also thinks that Tekashi 6ix9ine is a marketing genius. He previously compared his trap to the current commercialized aesthetic of it transitioned. He continued:
“If he played it smart, he’d be in movies right now. It’s clear to see he’s an actor. An actor can emulate anything. He was emulating the music and then watching what people did to gain clout and he mastered it, so he’s really a marketing genius when you think about it, but that don’t mean he’s a real individual.”
