Famous singer and songwriter Justin Timberlake updated his Instagram feed to commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. and celebrate the legacy of the day with his followers.
Martin Luther King, Jr., who played an important role in the American civil rights movement, was one of the leading figures in history that fought for the civil rights of African Americans until his assassination in 1968.
In 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed a bill creating a U.S. federal holiday in honor of King and since then on Monday 3rd of January is celebrated as Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
On Monday, like many other celebrities in Hollywood, Justin Timberlake also took Instagram to memorialize Martin Luther King, Jr. on this day while dwelling upon the messages he spoke about peace, progress, responsibility, and allyship.
The United States is in a countdown to a new administration and before that day Justin Timberlake pointed out that they all need to do their part to continue working towards the change that Martin Luther King, Jr. fought for because as he said there was no other answer and they need real partnership.
Here’s the caption:
“Celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. today — and thinking about the message he would have for this country right now, as we countdown to a new administration.
While he spoke about peace and progress – he also talked about responsibility, allyship… and beyond that, real partnership.
‘Constructive social change will bring certain tranquility: evasions will merely encourage turmoil. [The Black community] holds only one key to the double lock of peaceful change. The other is in the hands of the white community.’
We all need to do our part to continue working towards the change that #MLK fought for and was killed for. Because, as he said… there is no other answer.”
