Grammy Award-winning rapper Kanye West has shared his thoughts on abortion at his first Presidental campaign event in South Carolina and said that his father, Ray West, wanted to abort him.
The 43-year-old rapper has spoken to a group of people at the Exquis Event Center in North Charleston on July 19 during his first campaign event after announcing his 2020 bid for the presidency.
During his speech, Kanye changed his thoughts about his previous anti-abortion stance and defended that abortion should be legal. He said:
“In 2020, abortion should be legal. My stance is not to make abortion illegal at all. It should always be legal but there should be an option of maximum increase. Everybody that has a baby gets a million dollars or something.”
Ye also revealed that his father, Ray West, wanted to abort him in 1976, but his mother, Donda West, saved his life. He stated:
“My mom saved my life. My dad wanted to abort me…There would have been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy.”
