One of the contemporary R&B singers, Kehlani, has updated her Instagram feed and mourned the tragic death of young rapper Lexii Alijai on the first day of the new year.
Burgeoning rapper Lexii Alijai died on January 27, 2020, Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office announced that the rapper died as a result of a lethal mixture of fentanyl and ethanol. The medical examiner’s office has ruled her death to be an accident.
Following the devastating death of the 21 year old rapper, Kehlani took to Twitter to mourn the death of 21-year-old rapper Lexii Alijai, with whom she collaborated on 2015’s ‘Jealous,’ when she passed away.
On the first day of 2021, the R&B singer jumped to Instagram once again to pen a touching letter to the late rapper. In her message, Kehlani said that throughout the year she really had moments of learning and death and understanding of the transition so that she felt the deceased rapper everywhere.
Here’s what Kehlani said:
“It’s been a year and it don’t even feel like it. Lex, you really knew to let us all know 2020 was gunna be fuckin backwards when you left us on the very first day of that shit. throughout the year I’ve had moments of really learning and having to understand death and transition, and thru that, I feel you everywhere. anytime I see a butterfly, an orb of light, or a sparkle in a strangers eye I know it’s you. sometimes you come in dreams, sometimes other people say they see you around…”
Kehlani also wished that she wouldn’t forget her forever and that she had the opportunity to spend more time with her. She continued:
“Feel you around. thank you for visiting us still, thank you for guiding us, loving us. we wish we had gotten longer to love you. today, and every day fr but… today, bang lil Lex thru your speakers. loud as hell. light a candle and tell her you love her. pray for her family, all of her loved ones. Lex we gon lift you up FOREVER! a hurt we won’t ever forget, an angel we won’t let go forgotten. 🤍🦋🦋🦋 #LLL #LongLiveLex my lil fuckin sis 4L.”
As you remember, in 2016, the late rapper performed at the Soundset Festival in the Twin Cities, which also featured the likes of A$AP Rocky, Future, The Roots, Lizzo, Post Malone, and Anderson .Paak.
