Actor Laurence Fishburne, known for his role as Morpheus in The Matrix series, made a statement confirming that he will reprise his role as The Bowery King in his new movie, John Wick 4.
Filming for Keanu Reeves’ fourth film will begin in Berlin over the next few months, followed by filming in France, Japan, and New York before its release in May 2022.
During a recent interview with Collider, Fishburne, who plays the king of the Bowery, an underworld network disguised as a homeless shelter, said that he should be going to Berlin soon. The meaning is the actor is returning for John Wick 4.
Here’s what the actor said:
“I should be going to Berlin within another couple of months or so.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Fishburne has shared his thoughts about the upcoming film and detailed his character. He continued:
“It’s really, really cool. As much as it’s the same world as the other three films, it’s just deep. It’s much deeper in terms of the code of the assassin and the relationship that he has with one character in particular who I think Mr. Watanabe is playing… is really the heart and soul of it.”
Shamier Anderson, Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgard, and British singer Rina Sawayama cast for the John Wick: Chapter 4 in addition to Fishburne and Reeves.
Chad Stahelski will be a director as always, Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee will produce, and Keanu Reeves and Louise Rosner will executive produce the film. The script was written by Michael Finch, replacing franchise creator Derek Kolstad, who announced in March that he would not work on subsequent films in the series.
