Lil Nas X Says Internet Trolls Rarely Hurt His Emotions: ‘I’ve Been Through This Before’

Rapper Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, called it rare that internet trolls can hurt his feelings and he said he was quite familiar with this situation.
Lil Nas X has come under heavy criticism since the song Old Town Road, which he released with Billy Ray Cyrus. Finally, the rapper caused controversy over his song titled Montero (Call Me By Your Name) and its devil-themed music video, and conservatives criticized him harshly.
Lil Nas X, who released his song Sun Goes Down on Friday, stopped to answer People’s questions. His views on the Internet trolls criticizing him were clear. The rapper said that his feelings were rarely hurt because he had been on the internet for many years and had experienced this situation before.
Here’s what Lil Nas X said:
“I guess it’s because I kind of grew up on the internet and I’ve been through this before, and I know to take everything with a grain of salt. So it’s rare that it’ll actually get to me, where I’m like, ‘Oh, that hurts.'”
He continued:
“I was happy that a lot of people seeing this growing up are going to remember it for the rest of their lives and they’re going to feel more confident in themselves.”
Lil Nas X also talked about his new music video titled Sun Goes Down and revealed the clip would about his past:
“I definitely tell about some of my upbringing and it’s also just a really great song. And the video goes back to my past, to 2017 Lil Nas X in his prime. Like he was at prom, working at Taco Bell, and what he did in his room, praying his sexuality away. Like all these things that I experienced that I wanted to share with my fans.”
