Mads Mikkelsen Reveals If He Will Be A Better Grindelwald Than Johnny Depp In Fantastic Beasts 3

After the eighth movie of Harry Potter, the new age of the wizarding world continued in 2016 with the spin-off series, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and the fans were waiting for Fantastic Beasts 3.

Unfortunately, many unfortunate events came one after the other and everything turned upside down just as the shooting had begun.

The problems between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were on the agenda for a long time which caused Johny Depp to be suddenly removed from the cast of the highly anticipated Fantastic Beasts 3 movie by Warner Bros.

After the incident, a lot of anti-campaigns were made for Amber Heard to depart from Aquaman 2 movie. Besides all of that, Warner Bros. immediately started looking for a new actor to replace for Depp’s character in the film, a dark wizard called Gellert Grindelwald.

Johnny Depp will no longer play the charismatic wizard and Warner Bros. confirmed that Mads Mikkelsen will be the new Gellert Grindelwald of the dark wizarding world.

In his latest interview with EW, Mads Mikkelsen explained although there will be some connection with what Depp already masterfully achieved with the character, he wants to create his own version of the character.

Mads Mikkelsen is known for projects like Hannibal and Doctor Strange and he really successfully performed the villain characters, so he definitely will bring new air to the character. The film is planning to release in July 2022.

Here’s what Mads Mikkelsen stated on the subject:

“Well it’s going to be me, so that’s a difference. No, this is the tricky part. We’re still working it out. There has to be a bridge between what Johnny did and what I’m going to do.

And at the same time, I also have to make it my own. But also we have to find a few links [to the previous version of the character] and some bridges so it doesn’t completely detach from what he’s already masterfully achieved.”
