Actor Marlon Wayans took to Instagram to pay his tribute to Whodini rapper John ‘Ecstasy’ Fletcher by sharing some unknowns about himself and the rapper.

John ‘Ecstasy’ Fletcher passed away on Wednesday at the age of 56. The rapper, one of the founders of the Whodini group, joined the Grandmaster Dee group in 1986. Ecstasy later received the third annual Black Music Honors Hip Hop Icon Award in 2018.

The 48-year-old actor continued his letter and admitted that everyone, including himself, wanted to be as cool as the late rapper. He also revealed that his late mother would always refer to him as the cute little boy with a hat and light-eyed.

Here’s what the actor wrote:

“Damn, another brother gone to get his wings. #ripecstasy THANK YOU for all the hits. One Love and freaks come out at night are in the soundtrack of my childhood. We all wanted to be cool like you bro. Give my mama a hug up there. She’d always refer to you as that cute light eyed boy with the hat”. Rest well #onelove”
