Missy Elliott Opens Up On Surprising Effect Of Social Media: “Nobody Teach Me These Stories In The Class”

Rapper Missy Elliott shared the new tweets on her Twitter account and showed the amazing effect of social media on recent incidents such as the Black Lives Matter movement, the killing of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Rayshard Brooks.

The rapper stated in her first tweet that she felt she had learned more about history than ever in 2020 and said that many stories, she saw on social media, teachers did not teach in history classes. She sampled her mother and aunt, saying that they had never heard of The Black Wall Street which a race riot took place in 1921 in Tulsa, Greenwood.

“I feel like I’ve learned more about History in the year 2020 than ever… So many stories I am seeing on here they never taught in my history classes smh…

My mom and my aunts said they never heard of The Black Wall Street & they are seniors so why didn’t school teach them about this either”

A fan wrote that saying that 2020 will go down in history:

“That’s why 2020 will go down as one of the greatest years in history. What A Year Already.”

Missy Elliott responded to the fan:

“It is the year of The Awakening for sure.”

Another Twitter user said:

“Yes, right? social media is a powerful baby.”

Missy replied to:

“Yes, as much as social media can be toxic it has been a blessing not just for promoting product but to learn because I’ve learned so much in the last month it’s crazy…”
