Actress Nathalie Emmanuel is trying to raise awareness of cervical cancer by using that wide social media platform where she shares her experiences that informs society.
Emmanuel generally uses her social media accounts to share her experiences about life and raise her voice against social incidents, including recent cases such as the Black Lives Matter movement, police brutality, and more.
Today, Game of Thrones star jumped to Twitter to raise awareness of cervical cancer and warned her female followers on this crucial issue. In her tweet, Nathalie said that she had her smear test in March and relieved to have it.
Here’s the tweet:
“So relieved to have just had my smear test which was due in March, but the lockdown meant I couldn’t get it. If you haven’t had your smear test, then make sure you do. Cervical cancer didn’t go anywhere just because the ‘Rona came along.'”
Cervical cancer ranks 6th among cancers in women and 10th as the cause of death. Starting sexual intercourse at an early age, multiple sexual partners, low socioeconomic level, HPV infection, low vitamin A degree, and smoking increase the risk of cervical cancer. The smear test (Pap smear) is a simple test used in many countries to screen for cervical cancer.
