R&B singer-songwriter Rihanna has reacted to the Atlanta shooting and raised her voice to support the ‘Stop Asian Hate’ movement on her Instagram page.
Asian-Americans have been living in fear for months due to the rising wave of racism, hatred, violence, and rhetoric. The killing of eight people, including four South Korean and six Asian women, in the recent horrific incident in Atlanta, and the association of a pandemic in China with racial causes further surprised and horrified this stigmatized community.
Rihanna showed her support for Asian Americans by sharing photos of the protesters on her Instagram account. Describing this incident as brutal and tragic, RiRi thinks it’s certainly not an isolated incident by any means.
She said her heart was broken for the Asian community, and she said that her heart was with the relatives of those who lost their lives yesterday. She concluded by saying that the hatred must be ended.
Here’s what Rihanna stated:
“what happened yesterday in Atlanta was brutal, tragic, and is certainly not an isolated incident by any means. AAPI hate has been rampantly perpetuated and it’s disgusting! I’m heartbroken for the Asian community and my heart is with the loved ones of those we lost yesterday. The hate must stop. #ProtectAAPILives”
