The Batman director Matt Reeves is creating a television show spinoff for HBO Max that focuses on the Gotham Police Department from Robert Pattinson’s franchise.
It’s not a secret that Reeves tries to create a fully-realized Batman universe. It has already been teased that he has plans for a trilogy of films and also it will introduce multiple characters from the Batman franchise.
HBO Max officially announced that Reeves is developing a television show spinoff for The Batman that will be about the Gotham PD. The show has received a full series promise by HBO Max and is confirmed to take place in the same universe as The Batman. Here’s what he said:
“This is an amazing opportunity, not only to expand the vision of the world I am creating in the film but to explore it in the kind of depth and detail that only a long-form format can afford — and getting to work with the incredibly talented Terence Winter, who has written so insightfully and powerfully about worlds of crime and corruption, is an absolute dream.”
If TV series development has just begun, it may take several years for HBO Max to broadcast this special television show. The television show will not be released until The Batman film, which is scheduled to air in October 2021, but we can predict when it will be released according to this date. Although there is no clear information for the series yet, DC FanDome can announce early developments.
