In a recent post on Twitter, The Lord of the Rings actor Elijah Wood sent a farewell message to Superman director Richard Donner’s devastating death.
91-year-old Hollywood director Richard Donner passed away yesterday. Besides Superman and The Goonies, Donner directed the 1976 horror classic ‘The Omen’, the 1987’s ‘Lethal Weapon’ series starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, and the 1988 ‘Scrooged’ films. Donner ended his career with the movie ’16 Blocks’ in 2006.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Donner’s death was announced by his assistant. No statement has been made yet from relatives of Donner’s cause of death.
Elijah Wood, who worked with Richard Donner on the 1992 film Radio Flyer, took to Twitter to pay tribute to the famous director. Wood, who said that his childhood and life were incredibly influenced by Donner, said that he loved him very much.

“I will always fondly remember that booming raspy voice and laugh. My childhood and life was so impacted by the incredible Richard Donner. Heart of a giant and spirit of a child. His impact on cinema is truly immense; deftly bouncing from genre to genre. Love you, Dick.”
He also added:
“Also, Superman, Lethal Weapon, The Goonies, The Omen, Scrooged and on and on. My god, what an extraordinary legacy. Love to Lauren, his wife, and his family and friends.”
