Actor Will Smith spoke in a recent appearance on ‘The Breakfast Club,’ talking about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s relationship with the legendary late rapper, Tupac Shakur.
Jada Pinkett Smith and Tupac met at The Baltimore School for the Arts and became very close friends. Even they were extremely close.
As we all know, Tupac was shot dead in 1996 at the age of 25. Pinkett Smith has been mourning for her best friend ever since.
Will Smith admitted that he knew there was nothing romantic relation between Tupac and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, but that he had avoided communicating with the unforgettable hip-hop legend because of their close friendship.
Here’s what Will Smith said:
“Oh, f**k yeah. That was in the early days. That was a big regret for me, too, because I could never open up to interact with Pac. They had come into the age where now that was a possibility and Jada was with me.
Pac had a little thing with that, but she just loved him. He was the image of perfection, but she was with the Fresh Prince.”
“That’s what Jada would say all the time. ‘I’m telling you, y’all are so similar, you would love him,’ And I just never… that was a huge regret of mine. I couldn’t handle it. I was the soft rapper from Philly, and he was Pac.”
