Zoe Saldana Points Out To Black Motherhood As She Celebrates Mother’s Day Of Most Pivotal Heroes’ Moms

Guardians of the Galaxy star Zoe Saldana, best known for her role as Gamora, has celebrated Black motherhood of three women who raised and shaped some of America’s most pivotal heroes, James Baldwin, Martin Luther King Jr., and Malcolm X on her Instagram account.

Zoe Saldana shared photos of the book and the author on Instagram on Sunday in support of American author Anna Malaika NtiAsare-Tubbs of The Three Mothers, which tells the stories of the mothers of America’s most pivotal heroes, Malcolm X, James Baldwin, and Martin Luther King Jr.

The book reveals their unknowns about James Baldwin’s mother Berdis, Martin Luther King Jr.’s mother Alberta, and Malcolm X’s mother Louise Little.

As she celebrates Mother’s Day, Saldana supported the author of the book and paid tribute to the mothers of people who sacrificed themselves to defend the rights of black people in American history.

Here’s what Zoe Saldana captioned:

“Much has been written about Berdis Baldwin’s son James, about Alberta King’s son Martin Luther, and Louise Little’s son Malcolm. But virtually nothing has been said about the extraordinary women who raised them.

In her groundbreaking and essential debut The Three Mothers, scholar Anna Malaika Tubbs celebrates Black motherhood by telling the story of the three women who raised and shaped some of America’s most pivotal heroes. This Mother’s Day, my gift to myself will be reading this book!”

The author of the book, Anna Malaika NtiAsare-Tubbs commented:

“Seriously emotional and profoundly grateful right now. Thank you so so much for your love and support of the book!! I’m honored and blown away.”
